HISTORY OF ART FROM RENAISSANCE THROUGH CONTEMPORARY PERIOD
While we learn history through art and culture we will be immersed in the Czech experience. As we learn about the Renaissance Humanist philosophy we will have the experience of visiting sites of the rebirth ideology and the Protestant response as well as the Counter Reformation response.
In particular students will have a chance to study first hand bridge, church and castle architecture, and view the complete works of Charles IVs’ court painter Magister Theodoricus at Karlstein Castle. In addition we will study the exciting contemporary art scene in Prague and Vienna, as well as the works of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, and Franz Kafka.
